The launch of National Express' Cycling Safety Sticker produced with Sustrans.Winner, Gold Award: Cycling Safety Sticker Project - National Express

A team within National Express set out to develop warning stickers to alert coach drivers and cyclists to the dangers of bicycles undertaking coaches on the left hand side. The team gathered the views of cyclists and came up with two warning triangle style sticker designs to go on the entire coach fleet. The stickers have won praise from the cycling community.

Both the judges and our sponsor ROSCO were unanimous in praising this project: a simple but unique approach to an intractable problem. The judges were particularly impressed that the company worked with Sustrans and won the praise of cyclists for the scheme. The stickers are going on the entire National Express fleet and the judges thought this could be rolled out across the whole industry.

The judges thought this was an excellent model to improve safety and relationships which could have a lasting effect on the industry's reputation amongst the customers of tomorrow, and one that could work elsewhere.
